Three areas are listed on the National Register of Historic Places including downtown Courthouse Square and two residential districts. Allerton Park - almost time for peonies.

National Register of Historic Districts North State Street also known as Millionaires Row and with ties to Dr. Caldwell's Syrup of Pepsin. South Charter Street - both walking tour info available at the downtown Wabash Depot.   Historic downtown, Courthouse Square, dates back to 1837, with numerous shops, restaurants, art galleries, and businesses. We invite you come visit and enjoy all we have to offer. Monticello was also part of Lincoln's 8th Judicial Circuit.

It is a great time for a walk at Allerton Park and  Retreat Center!  The Park features formal gardens, hiking trails and museum quality sculpture. Allerton Music Barn Concert series Labor Day weekend.
