Monticello Railway Museum

 Allerton Park and Retreat Center
 
Explore Allerton Park, hike the trails, stroll the formal gardens filled with museum quality sculptures and step back in time in the 1500 acre English estate and mansion which now serves as a retreat center.
 
The park is open daily 8 a.m. to sunset with no admission fee. The Georgian Mansion, now used as a retreat center, hosting groups from all over the world. Allerton Park is located 3.5 miles west of Monticello.

Looking for Lincoln

Monticello is a Looking for Lincoln Storytrail Community with three storyboards. Monticello and Piatt County were part of Lincoln's 8th Judical Circuit. Discover life as Lincoln knew it, as a friend, a lawyer and politician.

Abraham Lincoln - Bryant Cottage

In nearby Bement visit Bryant Cottage, a state historic site and the site Lincoln and Douglas met to plan their famed debates in 1858. Bement has three story trail signs.

Historic Districts

Monticello has two residential Historic Districts featuring a variety of architectural styles. The South Charter Street and North State Street districts are both within walking distance from the downtown. Walking tour information is available at the Visitor Center located in the downtown Wabash Depot.

 Eli Field is open and hosts a number of events for RC enthusiasts.

Monticello Airport - Piatt County Airport

Located just south of Monticello off Kratz Road, Monticello Airport is a public airport that serves the local area with a turf runway. The runways are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Operated by Sage Air, Inc. For more infomation call (217) 762-9091.
